A Few Words About

OUR HISTORY

Collingwood Cardiology opened in the Georgian Triangle in 2007 by Dr. Eric Goode. After moving from Toronto where he had practiced for 25 years, Dr. Goode opened the practice when he saw there were no cardiology services in the area. Dr. Goode had a strong connection to Collingwood having come since high school. He wanted to provide the same type of patient focused care he had provided in Toronto to this community that meant so much to him. Dr. Goode modelled Collingwood Cardiology after the cardiology practice he left ensuring that every patient received continuity of care from the moment they enter Collingwood.

Over the years, the team has expanded to meet the needs of Collingwood and its surrounding area. This has included providing support services to patients at Collingwood General and Marine Hospital. From our comprehensive services, our state-of-the-art equipment and our amazing skilled team, we have the tools to help you get well again. Collingwood Cardiology is committed to work with your family doctor to provide for your cardiology care.

Our Mission

To provide a continuity of care for all patients and their families that walk through our door making us the top choice for cardiac care in Collingwood.

You’re never alone
with Collingwood Cardiology!

This practice was focused on cardiac care and included heart catheterization, cardiac echo, nuclear cardiology, and clinical cardiology. While there he participated in clinical research trials. In 2007 he chose to relocate to the Collingwood area where he had enjoyed recreational activities for many years prior. He founded Collingwood Cardiology and has continued providing clinical care both at Southlake Regional Cardiac Center and in the Collingwood Hospital.

Starting with driving an ambulance in his hometown of Brockville, Ontario he then became a registered nurse and worked for years in the emergency department before embarking on his medical degree. Following his graduation, he spent a fellowship year in transesophageal  echocardiography and cardiac transplantation. He practiced cardiology at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Complex in Halifax, before moving to the West Coast. He spent about 15 years in practice there before returning East. In 2015 he joined the Collingwood Cardiology group and has maintained a close affiliation with Collingwood Gerneral and Marine Hospital.

Born in Regina Saskatchewan, he remains a Roughrider fan. He maintains that it is not his fault – that it’s genetic.

Dr. Eric Cohen’s family has owned property in the Mulmur Hills since the early 1970’s and they all share a passion for skiing.  The connection to Collingwood goes back to his teens but became much stronger when two of his four ski-racing children attended the National Ski Academy for their high school years.

Along with the amazing team at the Collingwood Cardiology Clinic, Dr. Cohen is committed to doing whatever he can to improve and maintain the heart health of this great community.  Working here has been a real treat for him from both a professional and personal point of view.
